Portrait of Camila Hernández Martínez

Camila Hernández Martínez

I hold a PhD in Gender and Diversity from the University of Oviedo, with international distinction and cum laude honours (2024), a master’s degree in Gender and Diversity from the same university (2018), and a degree in Anthropology from Universidad Externado de Colombia (2016).

My research examines migration from feminist, intersectional and decolonial perspectives, with particular attention to migrant women’s experiences, the body and inequalities. I primarily work with qualitative methods.

In 2024 I received the Amparo Pedregal Award in the category of research from a gender perspective for my doctoral thesis, «Transformación, resistencia y violencia en los cuerpos: experiencias de mujeres migrantes de Colombia en Asturias, España».
