This dissertation explores the bodily and cultural transformations experienced by Colombian migrant women in Asturias, Spain. Employing a qualitative case study methodology, in-depth interviews were used to reconstruct the life stories of these women, aiming to highlight and understand the interaction between gender, violence, migration, and bodily changes. The data collected were analyzed using Grounded Theory, developing analytical categories that reveal violence in its various forms (physical, emotional, symbolic, and structural) as a constant in the lives of the participants, both in Colombia, their country of origin, and in Asturias, their host community. This study utilizes an intersectional theoretical framework to address the dynamics of gender, violence, and migration, emphasizing how women’s bodies simultaneously become sites of oppression and instruments of resistance. The findings challenge the cultural construction of femininity, addressing surveillance and social control, and arguing that this process is in itself violent for women. Additionally, it analyses the impact of colonialism and patriarchal structures, among other systems of oppression, on migrant women from Colombia in Asturias.
